Calculation details
Service and age bands
At least two years of eligible continuous employment is normally required. Each complete year under age 22 gives half a week, years aged 22–40 give one week, and years aged 41+ give one and a half weeks. Only the latest 20 years count, so older-age years are counted first when limiting service.
Pay cap
For redundancy from 6 April 2026, a week’s pay is capped at £751. The maximum statutory payment is 30 weeks at that cap: £22,530. The calculator covers Great Britain, not Northern Ireland.
Example
Ten qualifying years in the middle band and five in the older band give 17.5 weeks. At the £751 cap, statutory pay is £13,142.50. Contractual enhancements, notice and holiday pay are additional and excluded.
